The iPhone 3G is too fat for the VW.
The new iPhone won’t fit in the iPod dock in my car because it’s actually wider than the old iPhone. The iPod dock in my car is a pretty sizable hole that I’m supposed to put adapters in to hold in different sized iPods securely. I’m not using any of the adapters but it’s still a few mm too narrow for the 3G.
Apparently, it wouldn’t have charged anyway:

iphone battery life
This battery is horrible. I’ve had the iPhone 3G for about 7 hours now, and I’ve had to charge it twice. so far, the best thing is easily google maps with 3G speed and GPS. Everything else is kinda the same as what I remember… nice… but always stuttering and freezing.
The home button is broken too.

It’s not often that I turn red from drinking. In fact, the last time I can remember someone telling me that I turned red, the next morning, I went around collecting various things I had left in each of my roommates rooms— a left sock in Grace’s room, a right shoe in Shirley’s, a phone in Norm’s… this was at Milvia House, so we had a lot of roommates.
